Bret is a criminal defense attorney who handles felony and misdemeanor cases in Texas state and federal courts. Practicing criminal law for more than 20 years, he is a former assistant district attorney and experienced defense lawyer. Bret is the founding and principal attorney at the Law Offices of Bret Martin and is of counsel to the Setzer Law Firm.
Over the course of his career, Bret has achieved countless not guilty verdicts, “no bills” from grand juries and case dismissals. He believes that the key to success in criminal defense cases is truly listening and being there for his clients. Bret’s Background

Bret was born and raised in Texas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Abilene Christian University and earned his law degree from Texas Tech. After graduating from law school, Bret worked in the Dallas County District Attorney’s office before founding his own law firm.
He is admitted to practice law in Texas state courts, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense lawyers Association (TCDLA) and the Dallas Criminal Defense lawyers Association (DCDLA).
Bret lives in Dallas with his wife and has three grown daughters. In his free time, he loves to travel with his family, play golf and stay fit.
